Conyers, GA., MARCH 28, 2007 - The Internet’s most popular portal for Catholic podcasts, the Star Quest Production Network (SQPN.com) has announced the addition of two new shows to their line-up of popular Catholic programming.
Podcasts, which are similar to radio shows, are free, downloadable audio files saved in MP3 format that can be listened to on computers or portable media devices such as MP3 players, CD players, and iPods.
The Catholic Family Podcast and The Catholic Family Kids Podcast, both produced by the Sweeney Family from Central Texas, feature lively conversation and Catholic topics in a fun and familiar format.
“The Catholic Family Podcasts are perfect additions to the SQPN family of shows,” says Fr. Roderick Vonhögen, founder of SQPN. “In addition to our faith-based shows featuring daily prayers and Bible readings, Sunday homilies, and praise and worship programming, the Catholic Family Podcasts illustrate how wonderful and exciting and challenging it can be to raise a good Catholic family in today’s world.”
Featuring David and Allyson Sweeney and their four children, Kathryn, Luke, Hannah, and Austin, the two shows present a slice of life from a normal family living out their Catholic faith.
Originally launched on March 18, 2006 as a single podcast - The Catholic Family Podcast - the Sweeney’s soon realized the need for a Catholic-based podcast for children and created the separate “Catholic Family Kids Podcast,” featuring their own kids as the hosts and presenters.
“Splitting the show into two separate programs was an important step,” says Allyson Sweeney, co-host of the Catholic Family Podcast. “We feel like we have more time now to devote to parents and our children can take on all of the kid stuff. After receiving positive reactions from around the world, it became evident that Catholic families are indeed universal.”
“In our endeavor we also hoped to reach out and share our experiences with other Catholic families,” says David Sweeney, co-host of the Catholic Family Podacst. “It became evident that God was calling us to teach.”

About the Star Quest Production Network:
SQPN (Star Quest Production Network) is a multimedia organization specializing in the production of audio and video programs faithful to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Its mission is to respond to the Church’s call to use the media for religious information, for evangelization and catechesis and for formation and education.
SQPN’s audio and video productions are produced in multiple languages and are aimed at an international audience. They focus on building bridges between the dominant popular culture of the Western world and the religious culture and tradition of the Catholic Church in order to reach an audience that has little or no relationship with that Church.
Just as the star of Bethlehem emerged within the foreign culture of the three magi, and invited them to start an adventurous journey to the newborn Savior, the programs of SQPN tap into popular culture to invite people on a journey of discovery towards an encounter with Christ.
SQPN produces on-demand audio and video programs, also known as podcasts, and offers a portal for a select number of affiliated Catholic podcasters that share the vision and media strategy of SQPN.
SQPN is incorporated as a non-profit organization in the state of Georgia, USA. Its international headquarters are located in Conyers, GA; SQPN’s European branch is located in Amersfoort, the Netherlands.
