How The Martyrdom Of 11 Of The 12 Apostles Is A Great Historical Proof Of Jesus' Resurrection

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 12 Apostles? I mean we only hear about a couple of them at most, but what about the rest of them? Most people probably even think that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were Apostles. Well, only Matthew and John were. But the requirement of the Church is that a Gospel had to be attached to an Apostle who had personal experience with Jesus. Here is how the other two Gospels fulfilled that. Mark traveled with St. Peter and wrote down what he said, and Luke traveled with St. Paul. So the Gospels really could be called Matthew, Peter, Paul and John.
Another question here is: why is Paul considered an Apostle, being that he wasn't one of the original 12 and didn't have contact with Jesus while He was alive? Paul declares himself to be an Apostle in many of his Bible writings (e.g. Romans 1:1 and 2 Cor. 1:1) and his encounter with Jesus was on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:3-7).
Later in this article I'm going to show specifically what happened to each of the Apostles ...where they established Christian churches throughout the world, which Scriptures they wrote, and how and when they were martyred. But first I want to make a great point as to how their martyrdom was an historical and logical proof of Jesus' resurrection. To make this point I'm going to quote from my book Why Are We Here?
"In the beginning of this chapter I said that one thing that I would use to prove the authenticity of the Bible is: examining the credibility and motives of its human authors (e.g. why would such intelligent, articulate, productive men allow themselves to be martyred in such horrible ways for something they knew wasn't true? Remember, these men are testifying as eyewitnesses to Jesus' miracles, teachings and resurrection). Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia had a humorous way of pointing out how absurd it is to conclude that the Apostles didn't really witness the resurrection like they said they did. He said "We must pray for the courage to endure the scorn of 'the sophisticated world'. The 'wise' do not believe in the resurrection of the dead. It is really quite absurd [to them]. The Ascension had to be made up by groveling enthusiasts as part of their plan to get themselves martyred". He's saying that the conclusion in this last sentence is what is really absurd here. Obviously, men who were intelligent enough to write the Bible and strong enough to, as strangers, go to foreign parts of the world where other languages were spoken and convince the people there enough to start churches, wouldn't be so foolish as to make a plan to suffer being martyred for something that they knew wasn't true. Maybe an argument could be made for one mentally deranged person doing this, but not many (and all but one of the Apostles were martyred)."
I was going to put what happened to the Apostles in this article, but it is much easier to go to a web page that I made and see it in chart form. So to see what happened to the Apostles, go to this web page: www.ADLighthouse.com/apostles.html

Dennis Marcellino is a Catholic author and speaker who has appeared on EWTN. He has a special passion to prove to the world that the Bible is a book of all truth, which he does through his book Why Are We Here?. In it he utilizes his extensive backgrounds in engineering, psychology, theology and spirituality to show that when science and logic are taken to the nth degrees they yield proofs that God exists and the Bible is true... unlike what the general mainstream perception is. And these proofs are simple. If you would like to have strong arguments and facts to defend your faith, this book and an accompanying workbook can be purchased at www.ADLighthouse.com/orderscredit3.html.
