WASHINGTON, NJ (April 28, 2014) - The World Apostolate of Fatima, USA - Our Lady's Blue Army (WAF) is co-sponsoring a Marian Eucharistic Conference on Our Lady of Fatima at Ave Maria University in Naples, FL May 16-18, 2014. The conference features leading Fatima experts who will explore the apparitions at Fatima and their importance in the modern Church and the world. Speakers include Fr. Andrew Apostoli, Franciscan Friars of the Renewal; Sr. Angela Coelho, Postulator for Canonization of Fatima seers Jacinta and Francisco Marto; Fr. Michael Gaitley, MIC, Congregation of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception; Tony Thomas, Vatican theologian and member of the Pontifical Marian Academy; and Nuno Prazeres from the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal.

The Fatima apparitions of 1917 are considered the most urgent among the Marian apparitions of the last century and were the onset of an era of Marian popes. Pope John Paul II, called The Fatima Pope, did the most to advance the message of Fatima in the latter half of the 20th Century, including fulfilling the request for the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on March 25, 1984, releasing the text of the famed Third Secret to the world, and declaring Jacinta and Francisco Marto "Blessed" on May 13, 2000. Pope Benedict XVI stated on separate occasions that "we would be mistaken to believe that Fatima's prophetic mission is complete," and expressed his hope that "the message of Fatima be increasingly accepted, understood, and lived in every community." Pope Francis dedicated his papacy to Our Lady of Fatima and consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on October 13, 2013.

The three-day conference includes a candlelight rosary procession around the campus, Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Benediction, praise and worship, and a May Crowning. Gabi Frei with special guest Vinny Flynn will provide music. Registration fees, which include all meals, are $150 for a standard dorm room and $180 for a premium room.

Originally founded by Monsignor Harold Colgan and Mr. John Haffert, the World Apostolate of Fatima - Our Lady's Blue Army is a Public International Association of the Faithful under the Pontifical Council for the Laity, established to speak officially to the world on behalf of the Roman Catholic Church on the apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima, Portugal in 1917 to the three shepherd children, Lucia dos Santos, Blessed Francisco Marto and Blessed Jacinta Marto.

The apostolate's mission is directed at helping people learn, live and spread the messages given by the Virgin Mary to the seers at Fatima and to promote devotions aimed at the salvation of souls, especially praying the Rosary and wearing the Brown Scapular.
