Now Accepting Nominations for the 2013 Catholic Doctor of the Year Award
Outstanding Catholic Doctor to be honored with Annual “World of Difference” Award

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 26, 2013) - Mission Doctors Association (MDA) is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Catholic Doctor of the Year. The award recipient will be chosen from nominations received from around the country and honored following the annual Archdiocese Los Angeles’ White Mass on October 27, 2013 at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. This is an opportunity for patients, colleagues, friends and family members to recognize an outstanding Catholic doctor.

The award is given in recognition of the efforts of a doctor who has responded to Christ’s call to “Heal the Sick”, as a member of our Catholic faith community and in doing so has made a World of Difference. We invite you to submit the name of a qualified doctor(s) for consideration.

Elise Frederick, Executive Director of MDA noted “This is the only national Catholic doctor award and one that Mission Doctors Association is proud to present. Many Catholic doctors go well beyond the roll and responsibilities of their profession, offering care that truly reflects the love of God for all. For some, this is obvious in their own practice. For others, this takes the form of volunteering in their own community or mission work that may be domestic or international.”

The 2012 recipient of the Catholic Doctor of the Year award, Dr. Andres Enriquez, is a Family Practice physician who was nominated not only for the faith filled care he provides to his local community, but the generous service he offers to the poor of Mexico and Honduras. Catholic press and National Catholic News services, among others, covered this award and honoree.

To nominate a Catholic doctor, download and complete a form on the MDA website, www.MissionDoctors.org or call the Mission Doctors Association office for a nomination form. All forms are due by June 15th, by mail or fax.

Mission Doctors Association, which was founded in 1959 to support the work of Catholic Doctors and their families serving in mission hospitals and clinics, welcomes the opportunity to recognize this outstanding physician. Executive Director, Elise Frederick noted “Catholic Doctors are called to action on behalf of our brothers and sisters around the world. This award is given in recognition of the efforts of one doctor who has responded to Christ’s call to “Heal the Sick”, as a member of our Catholic faith community and in doing so has made a “World of Difference”.
