The Catholic Herald honors the remarkable priesthood of Fr. Andrew Apostoli
SAN FRANCISCO, Ca (July 7, 2012) – The London-based Catholic Herald named Fr. Andrew Apostoli, C.F.R., tops on a list of the world’s most amazing priests in a feature story entitled “Meet 10 of the world’s most amazing priests” that was published earlier this week.
The feature story, and the complete list of the Catholic Herald’s most amazing priests, can be found at http://www.catholicherald.co.uk/. The list was created to coincide with the tour of the heart of St John Vianney, patron of parish priests, which visits England for the first time ever this week.
Fr Apostoli is described as “a leader in the founding of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, a strict order that lives the austere Franciscan life to the letter.” “They seek to live among the poorest of people and have a policy that if a local community improves and becomes wealthier, then they must leave and move to a more deprived area. They have a house in the suburbs of Limerick city in Ireland and in the South Bronx of New York.”
St. John Vianney once said, “The priesthood is the love of the heart of Jesus. When you see a priest, think of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Fr. Apostoli’s priesthood has helped many Catholics experience the love and joy of Jesus.
In addition to his work with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, Fr. Apostoli has been teaching and preaching retreats and parish missions for several decades. In 1988, Fr. Apostoli was instrumental in helping found the Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal.
Fr. Apostoli is considered one of the world's foremost experts on the apparitions at Fatima. He is the author of numerous books by Ignatius Press, including What to Do When Jesus Is Hungry; Fatima for Today; Following Mary to Jesus; and Walk Humbly With Your God.
He is a frequent guest on EWTN television and CatholicTV, and has hosted series for both networks. He also is the Vice-Postular of the Cause for Canonization for Venerable Archbishop Fulton John Sheen.
