Syrian woman believed to have been killed by father and brothers

Rokstan M. managed to escape in Syria after being gang-raped by three men. She fled to Germany but was later murdered by her own father and two brothers, allegedly by her own mother's orders because she was seen as "unclean" after the sexual assault.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Twenty-year-old Rokstan's body was found a few days ago in a shallow grave in an allotment garden in German city Dessau. She was found to have died from several stab wounds and it is believed her mother ordered Rokstan's father and two brothers to kill her for being "unclean."

Rokstan's M apparently had a premonition of her terrifying fate. Authorities found a message she left on her WhatsApp profile. The young woman wrote, "I am awaiting death. But I am too young to die."
She was initially living in a house for single women and later returned to her family's home. She was only with them for a few days before she was discovered in the grave.
Authorities claimed Rokstan integrated well into Germany and worked as a translator for asylum-seekers looking for refuge in Germany. She met Author Mark Krüger, who hired her to interpret interviews he conducted with refugees for a book he is currently working on. "Rokstan told me her terrible fate after she had helped me with translations," he shared.
Rokstan even made a tape recording of her experience in Syria, something Krüger listen to. In the recording, Rokstan can be heard saying, "I was taken by three men. Ever since that time my family have regarded me as unclean. My mother and my brothers mistreat me. They say that I deserve to die."
Local prosecutor Christian Preissner revealed "There is a suspicion that the act was carried out by persons in her close circle with a culture motive in the background."
Her father and brothers are nowhere to be found and are wanted for questioning. The Federal Police believe Rokstan's father, Hasso, left the country following her murder and is either in Turkey or Syria while Krüger believes her mother ordered the murder and even attempted to hire a hit man once. He said "Rokstan heard this from a friend."
Rokstan's mother, Roda, maintains her innocence, claiming, "I had nothing to do with her death." So far there have been no arrests and the investigation continues.
