El Arzobispo de Cali, Mons. Darío de Jesús Monsalve Mejía, aseguró que para lograr la paz verdadera en Colombia, hay que "volver por los fueros de la paz que brota del Evangelio" y exhortó a promover campañas de desarme entre los ciudadanos.

CALI (ACI) - "Como Iglesia Católica requerimos todos volver por los fueros de la paz que brota del Evangelio, la paz de Cristo, para no tragarnos entero este embuchado de sangre que llamamos paz y seguridad, justicia y paz, prosperidad democrática y otras bellezas de nombres", señaló.

El Prelado pidió a las autoridades del Gobierno y al Estado buscar mecanismos que ayuden en la reducción de la demanda de armas y control en el abastecimiento de este mercado, a la vez que invitó para que se generen campañas permanentes que inviten a la ciudadanía a desarmarse.

"La campaña permanente del desarme, frente al horripilante nivel de violencia armada y el desbordamiento de crímenes contra la vida humana, de homicidios y suicidios, se convierte en un imperativo moral indiscutible, que la ciudadanía civilizada debe exigirle al Estado y a las Brigadas Militares", agregó.

Tras recordar las actuales negociaciones de paz entre la guerrilla narcoterrorista de las FARC y el gobierno, el Arzobispo denunció el temor manifestado por parte de la población de su región, ante el asedio de las bandas criminales, los constantes asesinatos, la violencia, corrupción e "impunidad del poder que se está viviendo en esta región del país".

El Prelado escribió que "las bandas criminales extienden sus tentáculos hasta los barrios y veredas; crecen los asesinatos y hechos de barbarie, y el estamento militar se opone al desarme ciudadano en zonas como El Valle del Cauca".

"Nosotros todos, vivimos perplejos y temerosos, cuando no desterrados de la región o del País, en medio de esta mezcla satánica entre guerra y paz, entre seguridad y corrupción, entre impunes en el poder, protestando por la posible impunidad de otros que anhelan parapetarse dentro del poder para seguir impunes. ¿Cómo entender esta "paz a la colombiana"?, indicó.

Ante este llamado de atención, el Prelado informó que en el marco de los 65 años de Proclamación Universal de los Derechos Humanos, que se celebrará el próximo 10 de diciembre, la Iglesia en Cali y Organizaciones Comunitarias de esta ciudad, convocarán a una "marcha contra los homicidios y por el desarme", donde los habitantes podrán unirse y manifestarse en contra de todos estos actos violentos que afectan a la población.
