Father Matthias reminds us that our understanding of God's revelation is growing, and a particular step in that understanding was the development of Scholastic Theology, to which St. Thomas Aquinas greatly contributed. He then, quoting from Pope Sixtus V, shows why Scholastic Theology is necessary for us today and why there is so much opposition to it. Finally, he concludes that the final purpose of speculation is to lead us to repeat with Mary, "Be it done to me according to thy word". Ave Maria!
