Becoming "new creations" in Christ sounds like a big change! If bishops aren't willing to call people to this kind of radical transformation, then how are they really loving their people? After all, Jesus speaks to us of the "narrow gate" leading to heaven -- a gate we must "strive" to enter. We will never enter it unless we're willing to let go of the things that chain us to the world, the flesh, and the devil and stop identifying with them.

Sometimes the voice of patience and mercy can become one of timidity and indulgence. Such a voice may be popular with many, but it will convert few and inspire only complacency.

Please pray for Pope Francis and all the clergy as the Synod on the Family approaches.
