God allowed the Israelites to be exiled into Babylonian captivity but used it to test their faith and allowed them to flourish. When we suffer hardship we submit to God's will and accept it even if we didn't sin. When we are prosperous we receive it not because of our goodness, but because of God's goodness. Ave Maria!
