Poor Banished Children provides thrilling centerpiece for summer reading

Novel sets tone for a season of enjoyable, provocative stories of faith and courage

SAN FRANCISCO, Ca (June 6, 2011) - Her mystery unfolds on a 17th Century British beach. Washed ashore from who knows where, the young woman has a confession to make and a story to tell - as soon as the locals figure out who she is and where she came from.

So begins Fiorella De Maria's fascinating Poor Banished Children, the tale of one woman's search for freedom and redemption. Published in the U.S. by Ignatius Press, the book highlights a small library of great summer reading available now from the San Francisco-based publisher.

De Maria, who studied English and literature at Cambridge, has earned the National Book Prize of Malta in the foreign-language-fiction category for an earlier work, The Cassandra Curse. Thomas Howard, author of Narnia and Beyond, calls her latest work "serious fiction with prose that is clean, strong and worthy."

Poor Banished Children sets the stage for a great summer of reading featuring Ignatius titles. Others include:
