He was forced to leave his medical studies, imprisoned, released, and then sent to work in one of the poorest regions in the North. After being forced into brutal hard labor, he received intense physical conditioning as a result which led to a miraculous escape from the country after ten life-threatening attempts. He left behind his parents and his brother to risk a fate worse than death - capture - hoping for a future and a life free from oppression.
