'It's kind of remarkable in this age when everything leaks but there's not one single one of these addenda that's surfaced in 36 years, so we don't actually know what's in it.'

One might think the United States government is out to protect its people - and in many ways it does - but what's really going on behind the scenes?

We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - If you think the government is looking out for you, think again.

A recent study revealed titled "Coming to Terms with Secret Law, conducted by Ohio State University and the Michael E. Moritz College of Law, revealed an "increasingly common" practice of the United States government's production of secret laws.

Everyone knows the fine print no one takes the time to read is where the big boys get you. These secret laws, hiding behind what pretends to be citizen-serving legislation, are responsible for extra funding quietly allocated to top secret programs and agencies.

Dakota Rudesill, an Ohio State professor of law, told vocativ a portion of each bill to fund classified programs is chock-full of provisions that "can reasonably be read to give a classified addendum" to American law.

An addendum, or addition, to the law holds unlimited potential and can do anything from reallocating funds from public education to Planned Parenthood or to enact new standards by which the government is allowed free reign to abuse your privacy rights - and no one would be the wiser until it's too late.

The study focused on acts of Congress and noted how the president's executive orders can override or reshape laws.
In an interesting move, Congress has decreased its enactment of laws since 1978 while the number of secret laws have steadily increased - particularly during U.S. President Barack Obama's second term.

Rudesill admitted the secret laws remain classified, leaving no one knowledgeable to what the Obama administration has stealthily enacted right under voter noses.

"It's kind of remarkable in this age when everything leaks," Rudesill admitted, "but there's not one single one of these addenda that's surfaced in 36 years, so we don't actually know what's in it."

Claims of simple conspiracy theories have surfaced but the evidence lies in the discrepancies referring to areas outside a law's purpose.

When DARPA ran a program with predictive policing in mind, no one knew about it until the media blew the story up and citizens demanded their right to privacy. When the program was terminated, a new program was created but Rudesill described how the same appropriations bill for the new program made mention of yet another one allowed the same provisions.

Redesill explained the DARPA program that was terminated was simply replaced by another, similar "program hereby authorized for processing, analysis, and collaboration tools for counter-terrorism foreign intelligence, as described in the Classified Annex accompanying the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2004."

Was the full description of the program released to the public? No. It's classified. The only difference seen between the new program and its predecessor was that the new one claimed to focus on counter-terrorism through the surveillance of foreign intelligence - though it failed to explicitly define its reach.

Whatever the Obama administration is doing with its secret laws, don't expect it to be good. If the laws were genuinely for the sake of the American people, there would be no reason to hide them from the public; so pay attention to what's going on folks. Whatever Obama has in store for our country's future has already been set into motion.
