Highlights

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor, it is the first time that ISIS has executed a woman in Syria for alleged offenses of "witchcraft" and "sorcery."

The executions occurred on June 28 and 29, 2015, along with the execution of two married couples.

ISIS executed the two women by beheading in the province of Deir Ezzor. The women's husbands were also executed. In the past, the group has stoned women to death on accusations of adultery.

According to the Britain-based monitor, IS has executed at least 3,000 individuals in Syria since the group declared its Islamic "caliphate" in Syria and Iraq. Additionally, this was the first time they have ever seen the Islamic group beheading a woman. Of all the individuals, they have executed, about 1,800 were classified as civilians, and 74 of them were children.

The group has executed street entertainers, accusing them of black magic and sorcery. Magic tricks are strictly forbidden, for they consider it a form of questioning Allah's existence.

On June 2015, ISIS, released their first images of beheading an alleged sorcerer in the Barqah province. The prisoner was forced into wearing the dreadful orange jumpsuit and then forced to confess his "crimes" and to accept his death sentence.

The Islamic group also revealed photos of a decapitated magician in Salahuddin. In a close-up image, the man's body is shown lying near a bag full of prayer beads. According to ISIS, those were charms that they consider a form of dark magic and therefore convicted as an act of profanity.
