Ordenan por primera vez sacerdote a miembro de una tribu de Indonesia

En la region de Papua (Indonesia), cuya poblacion es en su mayoria cristiana, se ordeno por primera vez sacerdote a un miembro de la tribu asmat, en una ceremonia presidida el 2 de febrero por el Obispo de Agats, Mons. Aloysius Murwito, en la Catedral de la Santa Cruz.

Yakarta (ACI Prensa) - Junto con el nuevo sacerdote, P. Moses Amiset, fueron ordenados tambien los diaconos Laurensius A. Kupea, Innocentius Nurmalay y Yohanis Laritembun.
Dentro del territorio de Papua, la Diocesis de Agats es la mas pobre y remota por lo que no cuenta con la presencia de un seminario menor. Por ello los seminaristas son transferidos a islas que son "territorios catolicos" como Molucas y Flores.
En declaraciones a Asia News, el P. Bobby Harimapen, parroco de la Catedral de Agats, dijo que Mons. Murwito estaria asignando el nuevo sacerdote a la parroquia de Kamur.
El P. Moses nacio en 1982 en Pau, distrito de Asmat. Vivio ahi sus primeros anos hasta que decidio frecuentar el liceo, transfiriendose a Tual (en las Molucas sudorientales).
Completo entre el 2005 y 2006 su ano preparatorio a la vida religiosa en Sorong (capital de Papua) y entre el 2013 y 2014 desarrollo trabajos pastorales en la parroquia de Bayun.
Su ordenacion diaconal se realizo en 2017 en la parroquia de Atsj.
El ano pasado la Diocesis de Agats se declaro en "estado grave de emergencia sanitaria" a causa de una epidemia de sarampion que dejo 72 muertos, en su mayoria ninos. Ademas cerca de 223 menores sufrieron de malnutricion, segun menciona Asia News.
La Iglesia local presto asistencia a la poblacion indigena, donde Mons. Murwito coordino a dos escuadras de voluntarios que distribuyeron ayudas en diversos pueblos de este inaccesible territorio.
