Piece of Flight MH370? Mysterious plane debris washes up on Indian Ocean island that could be missing Malaysian MH370

Potential plane debris sparks questions of origin.

Photos of what could be a piece of the missing Malaysian Air Flight MH370 have surfaced over the internet. The photo, posted on Twitter, appear to "a plane flap or wing that had washed up on a remote Indian Ocean island," according to Fox News.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to the aerospace and Boeing beat reporter for The Wall Street Journal, Jon Ostrower, if the debris photographed is from a jetliner, it is more likely a flap than a wing. He explained that a "jet like MH370, a Boeing 777, has a single-piece outboard and a two-piece inboard flap system."

MH370 was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014 when, less than an hour after takeoff, it seemingly vanished into thin air, somewhere around the South China Sea. All 12 Malaysian crew members and 277 passengers vanished, too.

An enormous effort, so far costing more than $100 million, has been made to search for the airplane, but there has been no major lead. However, investigators did later find the plane ended up flying south toward the southern Indian Ocean.

"Our work will continue to be thorough and methodical, so sometimes weekly progress may seem slow," the Australian Transport Safety Bureau posted to its MH370 search website. "Please be assured that work is continuing and is aimed at finding MH370 as quickly as possible."

The recent discovery of plane debris, with a collection of barnacles on it, was found on Reunion Island by employees of a company that cleans the shoreline, according to India Today. The island is near Madagascar, thousands of miles west of the search area, which itself covers 75,000 square miles.

Officials are cautioning that it is too soon to say whether the plane piece is linked to MH370.

The reason or cause of the disappearance has never been identified, and intention to foul play has never been proved. However, some suspicion has been placed on the pilot of the plane after investigators noticed following the transponder being turned off, the plane initiated evasive skilled maneuvers. Capt. Zaharie Ahmad Shah, who had a lot of experience in the cockpit, had a flight simulator in his home and was having emotional issues.
