San Salvador (ACI Prensa) - El sospechoso es Alvaro Rafael Saravia un exoficial del ejercito de 78 anos.
Como explica Reuters, su caso fue "desestimado en 1993 despues de que una ley de amnistia prohibiera los juicios penales relacionados con la sangrienta guerra civil de la nacion centroamericana".
Sin embargo, el juez Rigoberto Chicas reabrio el caso en mayo de 2017, despues de que se revoco la polemica ley de amnistia y al considerar que habia pruebas suficientes.
Ahora, la Policia Nacional Civil y la Policia Internacional (Interpol) se encargara de dar con el paradero del exmilitar para que sea procesado por homicidio agravado.
Durante todos estos anos nadie mas fue llevado a juicio por el caso de Mons. Romero.
San oscar Romero fue asesinado por un francotirador frente al altar donde celebraba Misa, en medio de una naciente guerra civil entre la guerrilla de izquierda y el gobierno dictatorial de derecha que finalmente dejo cerca de 75.000 fallecidos entre 1980 y 1992.
SegĂşn las investigaciones, la autoria del asesinato apuntaba a un grupo de aniquilacion vinculado a la dictadura militar, que creia que Mons. Romero era cercano a la guerrilla marxista debido a su preocupacion por los pobres, una acusacion alejada de la realidad.
En su lucha por los mas pobres y en sus denuncias contra la dictadura, el futuro santo estuvo respaldado por San Pablo VI y San Juan Pablo II.
El 3 de febrero de 2015 el Papa Francisco reconocio su martirio y el 25 de mayo de ese mismo ano fue beatificado en San Salvador. El 14 de octubre fue canonizado en el Vaticano.
