LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Mexico is the most dangerous country for priests and each year more servants of the Lord go missing, are kidnapped and are killed.

The day after two priests were discovered murdered in a field, priest Jose Alfredo Lopez Guillen was abducted from his parish in Janamuato.

Church officials told the Catholic Herald Archdiocese Guillen was robbed then abducted.

"We plead that the life and physical integrity of the priest be respected."

Cardinal Alberto Suarez Inda took things a step further.

In a video statement, Cardinal Inda said: "After sharing the enormous pain of the death of two young priests in the Diocese of Papantla, Veracruz, we are now suffering our own anguish with the disappearance of one of our priests.

"Our community suffers the death or anguish of any of the faithful."

Cardinal Inda explained the Archdiocese "is a good man, a man who does good,a peaceful man, and so this barbarity is in no way justified."

Mexico is notoriously corrupt and it comes as no surprise to see evil deeds fall upon the most righteous.

Please pray for the brave clergymen in Mexico, who reach out to the community and continue to follow the path God set them upon despite unspeakable dangers.
