El Arzobispo de Lima y Primado del Perú, Cardenal Juan Luis Cipriani, pidió a quienes acusaron de pedófilo al ex Obispo Auxiliar de Ayacucho, Gabino Miranda, que recurran a las autoridades civiles y presenten su denuncia.

LIMA (ACI) - En una entrevista con el diario peruano El Comercio, el Cardenal Cipriani recordó que Miranda "afirma que no ha cometido pedofilia. Si lo ha hecho, no solo se le debe aplicar la ley canónica y su respectiva sanción, sino también la ley civil y la sanción que esta contempla. Yo rechazo cualquier atenuante".

"Quien abusa de un menor deberá ser castigado con toda la fuerza de la ley, sea sacerdote o laico, sin ningún miramiento", pero seńaló que "ni la Santa Sede ni nadie, hasta ahora, ha presentado una denuncia de pedofilia" contra el ex Obispo auxiliar de Ayacucho.

El Arzobispo de Lima seńaló que fueron el Obispo Emérito de Chimbote, Mons. Luis Bambarén y el presidente de la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, Diego García Sayán, quienes acusaron a Miranda de pedófilo.

"Bambarén habló de pedofilia, le pido que vaya a la fiscalía y denuncie. García Sayán también mencionó la pedofilia, también le pido que haga la denuncia", dijo.

En efecto, García Sayán, en su artículo del 19 de septiembre "Un obispo contra el Vaticano", refiriéndose al tema de la pedofilia en la Iglesia, aseguró que esta era "impune hasta hoy en el Perú", y pidió que se confirme o desmienta "lo que es un secreto a voces: la destitución en agosto de un obispo auxiliar, perteneciente al Opus Dei" en un "Arzobispado andino", pero no precisó a quién se refería.

Por su parte, Mons. Bambarén, consultado por el periodista Augusto Álvarez Rodrich ese mismo día en su programa televisivo si conocía el caso "de una destitución de un Obispo auxiliar perteneciente al Opus Dei por un tema de pedofilia", seńaló que "sí, en Ayacucho, es un Obispo auxiliar".

En los días siguientes los medios intentaron acusar al Cardenal Cipriani como principal responsable y encubridor de estos hechos. Solo el 1 de octubre, más de diez días después de sus declaraciones iniciales, el Obispo Bambarén dijo a La República que "nunca" dijo que Gabino Miranda fuera pedófilo.

El Arzobispo de Lima criticó que "se hizo una denuncia pública de pedofilia contra Gabino Miranda sin presentar, hasta el día de hoy, denuncia" ante la justicia peruana.

El Cardenal Cipriani recordó además que Gabino Miranda no pertenecía a la Prelatura del Opus Dei, como difundieron equívocamente García Sayán, Mons. Bambarén y diversos medios de prensa que se hicieron eco de sus declaraciones, sino que "recibió formación espiritual de la Sociedad Sacerdotal de la Santa Cruz".
