LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - This is it! On Friday, February 7, 2014, 9:00 am PST / 12:00 pm EST, Catholic Online will launch its first ever 'Prayer and Action' Day in solidarity with Pope Francis campaign to end world hunger. Participants from around the world will be invited to join these special activities on the first Friday of every month via 'Live' broadcast on Google+ Hangouts On Air until 2025.

For the past two months, Catholic Online has responded to the call of Pope Francis by asking people to 'Prayer and Action'. Specifically, we have asked you to pray to end world hunger and to donate to feed the world's starving. Four shipments of food have already been sent to the Philippines where it is still being used to feed people displaced by Typhoon Hiyan/Yolanda. We are very proud to say that the community of Catholic Online has come through. We have participated in the call of Pope Francis.

Our 'Prayer and Action' Day will change you. It will impact your life, and the lives of millions of people around the world.. The goal of 'Prayer and Action' Day is to empower you to engage your Catholic faith and to implement Pope Francis's goal of ending the world's poverty and hunger. Our Catholic faith gives us everything we need to accomplish this. You are the answer. If you engage your Catholic Faith, you have the answer.

'Prayer and Action' Day, as the title suggests, is all about prayer and action. Special prayers will be shared on Catholic Online and during our Google+ Hangouts On Air. We invite you and Catholics all around the world to pray with us and to take action with us.

What you do will always be up to you, but it must be stressed that while prayer is powerful, teamed with action, we will be invincible.  Pope Francis made it clear that ONLY through a combination of 'Prayer and Action' can we change the world.

Catholic Online is in a very unique position. For the first time ever in history, our organization stands at the nexus between 1.2 billion people, modern technology and fire-tested faith. The same networks that recently eradicated smallpox, and will soon eradicate polio, can now be leveraged to eradicate 'poverty' which is the leading cause of hunger in the world. Catholic

Online, working in coordination with Your Catholic Voice Foundation is uniquely situated at this nexus. Together we hold tremendous power. This is your opportunity to join us and be a part of something amazing.

Join us on Catholic Online's Google+ Hangouts On Air on February 7th, 9:00 am PST / 12:00 pm EST, for our first powerful half-hour program, 'Prayer and Action' Day. We also ask that you pray for us as we undertake this powerful new endeavor to serve God through 'Prayer and Action'.

Pope Francis calls for your 'prayer and action'...

Making a Lenten Retreat with Pope Francis: Learning from Elijah Watch

Image of There is a mystery here, deep and profound, yet as simple as the broom tree encounter of our teacher Elijah. God is searching for men and women who will surrender their lives in love to Him in this hour. Often, it takes the depletion of all of our own efforts and resources before we are willing to give up - and give in - to Him. When we do, the life of true faith begins. It is there we learn to hear the God of surrendered love in the whisper of the wind. It is there that we learn the Faith of Elijah, under the broom tree.

By Deacon Keith Fournier

In many respects, our life on this earth is a classroom of love and a continual invitation to holiness. As we age, we are given the opportunities we need to receive the graces we need to empty ourselves of all that clutters up our life - so that we can be free to ... continue reading

Pope Francis wants you to pray to end Christian persecution. But will Catholics answer him?

Image of Christians face more than the Islamic State. Destitute, they lack sanitation, privacy, food and water, and their spiritual end educational needs aren't being met. A tremendous effort will be needed to restore these people. Let us pray.
