Fr. Joachim on the life of St. Benedict who was instrumental in starting  western monasticism. He became a hermit and overcame many temptations and then started the Benedictine order with its motto of "Ora et Labora" (prayer and work). Thus he supported both the spiritual and intellectual life at a time of great need since Europe was falling into the dark ages. Ave Maria!
