Walking with the Lord - St. Veronica Church Announces Corpus Christi Procession on June 6

HOWELL, NJ (May 21, 2010) - St. Veronica Church today announced its 5th Annual Corpus Christi Procession on Sunday, June 6, 2009 following the 12 noon mass at approximately 1:20pm.

The Corpus Christi Procession will begin on the Mall area across from the Church led by St. Veronica Pastor Father Brendan Williams and the 2010 Communicants. More than 200 parishioners, people from neighboring parishes and Communicants have participated in past Processions led in song and praise by St. Veronica's music ministries.

In a May 11, 2009 mass celebrating the feast of Corpus Christi on the plaza in front of the basilica of St. John Lateran, Pope Benedict XVI noted in his homily: "The Institution of the Eucharist thus appears to us as an anticipation and acceptance, on Jesus' part, of his death. The Eucharist, making present the sacrifice of the Cross, renders us capable of living communion with God faithfully."

"Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI is calling for Corpus Christi as an opportunity to live communion with God faithfully and walk with the Lord," said Father Brendan Williams, pastor of St. Veronica Church. "We celebrate this feast of Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, with masses, novenas, special devotions, and religious processions as one of the main public proclamations of the institution of the Holy Eucharist."

Father Williams encourages other parishes within the area to participate in the Procession. "We look forward to having all of our ministries unite as 'one bread and one body' to publicly proclaim our Lord Jesus Christ during our Procession," he added.

Once the Blessed Sacrament is returned to the tabernacle, the celebration of the Feast of Corpus Christi will continue in the St. Veronica School cafeteria, including food, music, games for the kids, puppet show, and fellowship!
