lecturer in Aesthetics of the Holy at the Academy of Fine Arts in  Brera, Milan;

Sr. Sara Butler, M.S.B.T., professor of dogmatic theology at St. Joseph's Seminary in New York; Sr. Mary Lou Wirtz, F.C.J.M., general superior of the Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and president of the Union of Superior Generals (UISG); Dr. Chiara Amirante, founder and president of the New Horizons Association of the diocese of Anagni-Alatri, Italy; Mr. Kiko Arguello, a co-initiator of the Neo-Catechumenal Way; Prof. Lucetta Scaraffia, professor of contemporary history in the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy at "La Sapienza" University in Rome.

We note the presence of several leaders of ecclesial movements such as the Fraternity of Communion and Liberation and the Neo-Catechumenical Way along with the vicar general of the prelature of Opus Dei. The Pope has emphasized these Ecclesial Movements as a resource for the New Evangelization. As a Cardinal, he wrote extensively about these movements and advocated for their place in the heart of the Church.

We often feature the ecclesial movements on Catholic Online. We will continue to do so as we progress toward the feast of Pentecost. They are a work of the Holy Spirit for our time. The Pope recounted his first encounters with the ecclesial movements in these words " ...at a moment of weariness in the Church, at a time when we were hearing about "the winter of the Church", the Holy Spirit was creating a new springtime."

Let us pray for and join with our Missionary Pope and the New Evangelization Council. As fellow workers in the vineyard, let's get to work.

    This Pentecost has to be special just like the first Pentecost. We can no longer just go through the motions and let the catholics that don't have a clue about Pentecost just say "yea! yea! whatever!" God please help out extra for us this Pentecost.

    The spread of paganism and the culture of death is to be cured by infusing among men and women the Spirit of the Lord.The world has turned upside down with the revolution in communication technology.materialism rules our lives than spiritualism.Greed vulgarity, pornography and sensual and infidel lives are becoming common.In reality children have lost the sense of sin and they start indulging in all vices from their early lives .Drinks and sex become the order of the day.There is no sense of divinity we never turn to God. we are ruled by relativism.

    The hedonistic "culture" that we, Catholics, have, more-or-less, embraced, is way off track, and upside down! It is no surprise that most of us, today, have never read the Catechism of the Catholic Church--(Vat. 2nd Edition). I have heard it said that "they won't understand it; it's too heavy!" So the conclusion was, don't teach it! Putting that together with the fact that, now, less than 35% of Catholics attend Mass regularly, one wonders whether the "truth" would have been better served by providing "sound teaching?" One can see why Our Holy Father says (as did Blessed Pope John Paul II before him) that a "New Evangelization" is needed in countries "that were once Christian." It is incredible! The great Deceiver has had a "hay-day" with us and we fell for it! Our Lady asked us to pray for the conversion of Russia.... Little did we know, then, how much we would need to pray for our own conversion, for our own country, in succeeding generations!

    This article is good in general but it ends with a directive to get to work without offering anything specific. I attend daily mass, say the daily rosary, do eucharistic adoration 2x a week. What specific things more can I do? I have shared my faith with my 40yr. old daughter and after 20 yrs. away she now attends Sunday mass and joins me for adoration 1x a week. Is that evangelization? I have tried sharing my Cathlic faith with many others but she is the only one who has responded. Pray for the rest of my family which has left the Church.

    Well said Papa Benedict XVI! I hope Pentecost is fire transforming this year for all of us.I want all catholics to be known by protestants and the world that we read our bibels and Evangelize the Gospel with preaching and walking.
