Fr. Angelo explains that our giving thanks really needs to be authentic gratitude which we owe by justice. We repay our debts to God by worship, to our parents by honor and respect, and to our nation by patriotism. And patriotism isn't warm and fuzzy optimism, but a true loyalty to our nation which looks first to God and doesn't neglect the weak and neglected. Let us all celebrate Thanksgiving Day by thanking God and by pledging to be the citizens He wants us to be.
