Monument of Bishop Ignace Bourget, Montreal, 1907 Ignace Bourget , born in St-Joseph-de-la-Pointe-Lévy ( Lévis ) on 30 October 1799 and died 8 June 1885 in Sault-au-Récollet (Montreal North) ( Canada ) was a Canadian clergyman ( Quebec ) . Appointed second bishop of Montreal in 1840, he resigned in 1876, he participated in the First Vatican Council of 1870.
