Today is the feast of St. Bernadine of Siena, a Franciscan preacher who worked for the reform of the Franciscan Order when it was becoming lax and then did the same for Christianity throughout Italy. He also spread devotion to� the Holy Name of Jesus in the abbreviation IHS, Iesus Hominum Salvator ("Jesus, Savior of men" in Latin) and to the Virgin Mary. Ave Maria!
