Benedict XVI: Cooperating to overcome the economic crisis
Uploaded by Catholic Online on Feb 5, 2009
Work is the key to resolving social problems and the role of trade unions is essential to safeguard the rights of workers, said Pope Benedict, as he received in audience leaders of the Italian Confederation of Trade Union Workers or CISL. In order to overcome the current economic and social crisis, he said, we need cooperation between all components of society, stressing that we must overcome contrasts between particular interests and sectors. He said the hope is that the current global crisis will give rise to a common desire to build a new culture of solidarity and responsible participation which are indispensable for the future of our planet
