At the foundation of the faith and practice of the Christian community is the historical revelation of God's goodness in Christ. Benedict XVI emphasized this in the General Audience catechesis today, in which he examined the two letters of Saint Paul to Timothy and Titus. The Christian community, the Holy Father noted, is firmly rooted in the truth of faith, open to the universal dimension of humanity, and prays that all men come to know the truth. For the first time, through these letters, the ministry of bishops, of priests, and of deacons emerges.
