Today Franciscans celebrate the birth of the Franciscan order at the Portiuncula, and the FI in particular celebrate today as the anniversary of the foundation of the Casa Mariana, the prot0-community that grew into the new institute of the Franciscans of the Immaculate. Father Matthias reads from a pastoral letter of Bishop Theobald dated 1310 in which the history of the Portiuncula indulgence is recounted. Finally, Father explains the theology of indulgences and the conditions needed to acquire today's indulgence. Let us break from all sin and take advantage of the "Pardon of Assisi" to fulfill the desire of St. Francis: "I want to send all of you to paradise." Ave Maria!
