Man praises appearances: success, talents, and beauty. He makes them primary and strives to acquire them. God praises that which should be primary: faith, hope, and charity. He looks into the heart and desires that we focus on patience, justice, prudence, and all the virtues. God wants us to learn what is pleasing to Him - not man - then to do it. Ave Maria!
