Wave kills two and injures six

Two passengers died after a 26-foot wave crashed into a cruise ship on the Mediterranean earlier this week. Glass windshields were shattered and six other people suffered minor injuries.

A spokesman for the shipping line said the ship was hit by three 'abnormally high' waves up to 26 feet high that broke glass windshields in the forward section.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The two victims have been identified as a German and an Italian man.

The ship docked in Barcelona. Ambulances who took the injured to nearby hospitals. One of the injured was reportedly a 62-year-old woman who broke both of her legs.

Passengers were not allowed to leave the ship, and all TV crews were asked to leave.

The Greek coast guard said the accident occurred near the French Mediterranean port of Marseilles as the Cypriot-owned Louis Majesty was sailing from Barcelona to the Italian city of Genoa with 1,350 passengers and 580 crew members on board. Newspaper accounts have reported differing locations for the accident.
