Today is 1st of Nov. and all saints day. I was reading the saints the saints names and i read the St. Ambalis. I do remember this name when we say the rosary which this this name is mentioned it. I am Roman Catholic and hailing from previous Portuguese colony in India ( Goa ) where we have Roman Catholic Portuguese - litany and prayers. etc. in Goa.

My father's name was Amable, like his uncle and godfather. My grandfather and his family were from a tiny place in northern Spain, Mera, in Galicia, very Celtic and not far from the Cantabrian Sea. My father, who passed away in 2005, would have been happy to hear there was indeed a real origin to his name and a French town with St. Amable/Amabilis as its patron saint. He always said he had read in an old calendar that his feast day was November 1st (true) and therefore, there had to be a saint by that name, but never knew for sure. He was an architect, so he would have loved the simple, yet beautiful medieval church bearing his name, which I hope to see one day. Riom looks to be a wonderfully quiet town. In Spanish, "amable" means gentle, a true description of my loving father. I first learned of this French saint when I visited Montreal and Ontario in Canada, as both gorgeous cities have streets with this name, so I investigated with much success! Thank you for this opportunity to share.

I am Amabilis and i never knew there was a st amabilis before so, i am so happy to know this, but its funny I am the female Amabilis.
