Inspiring books about John Henry Newman take on deeper meaning in light of recent beatification

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (September 29, 2010) - Ignatius Press has just released two inspiring new books about Blessed John Henry Newman to celebrate his recent beatification: "Blessed John Henry Newman: Theologian and Spiritual Guide for Our Times" and a new edition of the classic anthology, "The Heart of Newman".

The first book, "Blessed John Henry Newman: Theologian and Spiritual Guide for Our Times", is the official authorized biography on Newman to celebrate his beatification, written by Father Keith Beaumont, a priest of the Oratorie de France and an expert on the life and works of John Henry Newman.

"Blessed John Henry Newman: Theologian and Spiritual Guide for Our Times", is lavishly illustrated throughout with beautiful photographs and art on every page that bring Newman and his world to life.

The second book, "The Heart of Newman", a new edition of a classic anthology of the writings and sermons of Blessed John Henry Newman, is a rare treasure house of his thought and inspiration. This collection shows the timeless wisdom of Newman and how strong an appeal his writings have for the modern Christian. His writings and sermons are divided into twenty-one categories by such themes as God, Miracles, Faith, Scripture, the Church, Body of Christ, and Eternal Life, which are drawn from 25 works by or about Newman.

"Newman is alive in the works that he has left and the influence he has exerted," says Joseph Pearce, author of "Literary Converts" and author of the Foreword of "The Heart of Newman".
