Breaking Free From Pornography

Bloomingdale, OH (October 31, 2008 - In 2007 Bishop Robert W. Finn of the Diocese of Kansas City wrote his pastoral letter on the dangers of pornography based on the Beatitude, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God" (Matthew 5:8). Using his letter as a foundation, The Apostolate for Family Consecration has created a six-part series to give practical help and information regarding the dangers of pornography and how to protect oneself and one's family from its influences.

The "Blessed are the Pure in Heart" series features Rev. Kevin Barrett, Chaplain of the Apostolate for Family Consecration, and Peter Kleponis, licensed clinical therapist and nationally certified counselor from the Institute of Marital Healing. Barrett and Kleponis offer spiritual and psychological advice on how to overcome addictions to pornography and how to help teens and young adults remain pure in an over-sexed world.

Designed to help couples and young adults recognize the value of their own sexuality and that of those around them, "Blessed are the Pure in Heart" goes step-by-step looking at the person, the problems, the effects, how to overcome and assist others, and finally how to prevent the damages of pornography from entering into the lives of loved ones.

Pornography is recognized as the cause of problems in more and more of today's marriages. This series is accompanied by a discussion guide to assist in getting to the root of the problem, to be used by the individual or in group settings.

Founded in 1975 by Jerry Coniker and late wife Gwen, the Apostolate for Family Consecration is a pontifically approved association striving to consecrate families to the Holy Family in the truths of our Faith in the spirit of Pope John Paul II. The Family Apostolate reaches families in Asia, Europe, Africa, and North and South America through its Consecration in Truth Catechetical Series, its Internet Media Library, its 24-hour Familyland Television Network and its programs at Catholic Familyland.
