10 New Audio Bibles Reach Nearly 100 Million

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (OCTOBER 20, 2008) - The Audio New Testament is now available in 321 languages. Faith Comes By Hearing, the world's foremost Audio Bible ministry, recently released 10 new Audio New Testament recordings.

The following languages are now available for ministry efforts:

¡ñ Albanian ¨C Albania
¡ñ Bhojpuri ¨C India
¡ñ Guji (Gugi) ¨C Ethiopia
¡ñ Tigrinya ¨C Ethiopia
¡ñ Javanese ¨C Indonesia
¡ñ Sar ¨C Chad
¡ñ Nancese (Nangjere) ¨C Chad
¡ñ Kpelle Guinea ¨C Guinea
¡ñ Southern Sotho ¨C South Africa
¡ñ Korean ¨C South Korea

All together, these languages are spoken by 99 million people in more than 55 countries. For example, Korean is spoken in more than 30 countries. Albanian is spoken in at least six countries. Of the remaining eight languages listed above, five of them are spoken in at least three other countries.

¡°Many people groups are being dispersed and spread out all over the world,¡± said Jerry Jackson, founder and president of Faith Comes By Hearing. ¡°This worldwide dispersion creates opportunities for heart-language ministry many miles away from peoples¡¯ homelands.¡±

Ministering God's Word to the world's poor and illiterate using Audio Bibles is Faith Comes By Hearing's focus. Jackson said communicating God's Word in the language people pray in is critical.

¡°Some people have been wrongfully told, 'God doesn't speak your language,' and, 'God doesn't understand your prayers.' But when people hear the Word of God in their mother tongue they say, 'He is our God too,'¡± Jackson said.

This Christian non-profit loads these Audio Drama New Testaments onto technologically-advanced ministry tools and uses them to disciple people around the world.

One of the tools Faith Comes By Hearing developed and now uses is the Proclaimer, a self-powered audio player that can be used in the most remote and rugged locations. The Proclaimer¡¯s embedded microchip is pre-loaded with the New Testament in the heart languages of the world. Indigenous believers take these life-changing Audio Bibles into their villages and towns to start listening groups. Villagers in groups up to 300 gather around to listen and then discuss what they¡¯ve heard. By interacting with the Word of God, people come to know and follow the God of the Bible.

Currently, the ministry has established Faith Comes By Hearing listening groups in nearly 100 countries. Every month, Faith Comes By Hearing records and releases new languages for ministry efforts.

Ministry partners use these powerful word-for-word recordings of God's Word in a number of ways. JESUS Film workers follow up their evangelistic presentations with Faith Comes By Hearing listening groups. Scripture Union workers use Audio Bibles in thousands of schools, and Trans World Radio broadcasts the Audio Drama Bible in 15-minute daily segments over some of the most powerful radio stations accessible in third world countries.

Faith Comes By Hearing also uses the Internet to distribute the Bible in MP3. In fact, nearly 300 of their Audio Drama New Testaments are available for free download. Since November 2007, more than 52,000 people have downloaded MP3 Audio Bibles in hundreds of languages.
