Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. As A Servant, McCain Gets The Edge

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEDIA ADVISORY

GLADSTONE, OR (JUNE 23, 2008) - Some of the most admired leaders in human history have seen themselves as servants (e.g. Jesus, Mother Teresa, the pope [who is called "the servant of the servants"]). And some of the most despised leaders have been self-centered and power hungry (e.g. Hitler, Satan, Stalin).

Therefore, inherent in the human heart is an understanding of what the highest and best approach to life is. Jesus, even though he was the leader of the apostles, exemplified this by becoming a servant and washing the disciple's feet. He did so to make the important point that if we all are servants of one another then that is how free will beings can live in harmony with each other.

But Jesus was much more than just the leader of the apostles. The following Bible verse describes his approach. Philippians 2:3-8 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross!"

So as we analyze the two candidates for president, who is more the servant? It is obviously John McCain. The stories that can be found on the internet about him and how even in prisoner camps in Viet Nam he risked his own safety to serve his fellow soldiers.

He also exemplifies a selflessness in the fact that he has taken no "pork" for his district to make himself look good. Whereas Obama has taken plenty.

Obama also has been the most liberal voter in Congress regarding one of the most insensitive, selfish acts in our society: abortion. He even voted against a bill to stop partial-birth abortion. Whereas McCain's voting record on abortion has been consistently against it. The primary focus of liberalism is "freedom" (to do whatever), whereas the primary focus of conservatism is "responsibility".

I'm going to support all that I've said here through a focus that I call "The Final And Ultimate Maturing".

I've written three books about addictions and how to end them permanently (www.AddictionFreeForever.com). Therefore this has been a big focus of mine for many years (initially spurred by my desire to end my own addictions, which I did 26 years ago after 18 years of abuse). Here is a bottom line conclusion that I've come to.

A big problem of addicts is that they haven't gone through "the final and ultimate maturing", which is: having a sensitivity to others, their body and God vs. a primary focus on self and pleasure. And when this maturing has finished, it ends in a life of complete service. That is the reason why Heaven will be a heaven. And the ultimate criteria for this service will be within the bounds of our Creator's design and ways (for our body, our inner life and our relationships) and plan for humanity.

As I look back on my life, it amazes me (given how I've been for many years now), that when I remember all the bad things that I used to do, I can see that at the time I had no conscience at all about doing them. I had no sense that I was doing something that could hurt the work, feelings or possessions of others. I was only focused on myself, my feelings and pleasure. I wasn't even sensitive to my body's needs and limitations, or relationships, or my financial condition at times. It was all about me. Only the fear of being faced with the possibility of going to prison made me stop doing illegal things at 19 years old. It wasn't altruism that motivated me.

It wasn't until I had a conversion to Christianity that started me to not want to do wrong things. That is because I gained an understanding of WHY it was GOOD to not do those things (which I described earlier as how that is the only way that a number of free will beings can live in peace, harmony and safety with each other). And then I found out that God rewards that kind of attitude with good feelings in our heart ... like love, happiness, peace, joy, guiltlessness and security. And really, in the final analysis, aren't those the greatest treasures in life? That case could even be made from a selfish perspective. But I also took that attitude because I was so happy that a good God ruled over everything and had a good plan. And I wanted to be a part of that and a contributor to that, not a detractor. Even when that approach has caused struggles in my life, there still is a very deep feeling of good that nothing else can compare to.

But that's why the elections this year are so important and why I wrote my current book The Plague Of Liberalism (www.ThePlagueOfLiberalism.com). We need to do what we can to stem the tide of this nation from going in the bad direction, and move it into the good. And the bad comes out of the mentality of liberalism. I mean nowadays a lot of people don't make it through the "final and ultimate maturing" because the culture is bent on quick pleasures regardless of the natural consequences (STD's, obesity, drunk driving accidents, abortions, broken hearts, etc.). And laws are how these things are controlled. Therefore it is important who we put in as our lawmakers. We need laws that hold people fully accountable for bad actions. But we are in a very lenient society. Even parenting has become very lax in letting their "kids" live with them even into their '30s and not mature even on the most basic levels of finding (and becoming) a good mate and supporting themselves and a family. Instead of taking on responsibilities in life, they appear to have this attitude that others are to serve them. But instead of recycling that service, they usually spend it on their pursuits of pleasure.

But of course part of the problem is that the only good solution to human problems - God and His Bible - have increasingly been kicked out of the mainstream. Therefore, there is a great lack of legally endorsed solutions in the world, which then relegates people to a life of just coping with their problems rather than solving them. (I give a lot of examples in my book as to how this suppression of God in the mainstream occurs and is spreading).

Another reason why it's important not to vote for liberals is because they vote to make anti-nature acts legal (e.g. abortion, pornography, homosexuality, gay marriage, "green" fanaticism, etc.). And they've lifted the restraints on the things that promote these sins against nature and its Creator: movies, music, TV, spam, magazines, the internet, etc.

And there is a great insensitivity of the servant aspects surrounding sex (being a good mate, being a good parent, being financially responsible, being sexually responsible and sensitive to the fact that when a woman engages in sex she could get pregnant). Instead, the entertainment industries (without regulations from laws and government, like there used to be) promote 'sex without responsibility'.

So given all that I've said here, let no one say that it isn't important to vote. It is.
