Students receive over $5.2 million in Collge Scholarships

St. John Neumann High School seniors receive over $5.2 million in college scholarships---more than $100,000 per student thanks to innovative "Path to Scholarships" program.

Naples, FL (May 1, 2008) - "St. John Neumann High School seniors and their parents won't have to worry about how they will pay for college. Over $5.2 million in college scholarships, amounting to more than $100,000 per student, has been awarded to the schools senior class of 54 students. St. John Neumann is the first school in the State of Florida and one of only a handful in the nation to offer the nationally recognized "Path to Scholarships" program as an academic course offering," stated Dr. Laura J. Campbell, Principal of St. John Neumann High School. "We are thrilled with the results our students have achieved."

"The Pathways to Scholarships" program is a proven, successful organizational method and portfolio plan that gives students the tools to easily put together the necessary materials for the college application process and in turn helps them to focus on their strengths and life-goals, "explained Dr. Cheryl Sington, Director of Guidance at St. John Neumann High School who will teach the course. " The big questions are how do students find the path that leads to scholarships and how can they claim some of these scholarships as their own. Through our database of over 300,000 scholarship offerings, we can research potential scholarships and match them to our students' interest, academic performance, community service and financial need. Perhaps the best news is that there are many scholarships available that are not based on financial need and this opens up a world of opportunity to middle income families," she said.

St. John Neumann High School was established in 1980 and is Collier County's only Roman Catholic High School. Students of all faiths are welcome to participate in their mission of providing a strong, liberal arts college preparatory curriculum enriched in Catholic traditions. St. John Neumann High School fosters a caring family atmosphere along with moral development and respect for diversity. More thank 98% of the school's graduates are admitted to higher learning institutions. The class of 2008 has received scholarships and grants that have amounted to more than $5.2 million, and SAT/ACT scores rank well above the national average. St. John Neumann High School is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools with students contributing over 10,000 hours of community service every year.
