Priest and Seminarian Join National Three-Point Contest to Benefit Marriage Ministry

Houston, TX (March 13, 2015) - Put Up A Prayer is a national three-point contest that was created to benefit a new marriage program called The Choice Wine. National lay ministry group Paradisus Dei intends to offer The Choice Wine to churches across the country at no cost. "Put Up A Prayer is a fun way for us to get the word out about The Choice Wine and raise money so we can offer it at no charge to churches," said Steve Bollman, founder of Paradisus Dei.

Open to anyone in the United States, Put Up A Prayer has drawn participation from children, teens, and adults. Fr. Jacob Dumont, a priest of the Legionaries of Christ in New Orleans, LA, became the first priest to enroll. Fr. Jacob is well-traveled in his pursuit of his calling to the priesthood. Originally from Michigan, he studied in Connecticut and Rome and was ordained a priest in Rome on December 20, 2008. Since then, he has served youth on behalf of the Legionaries of Christ in Chicago, and most recently in New Orleans, L.A. His reputation as "Fr. J," will serve him well, as he travels now to the basketball court to support marriage through Put Up A Prayer. Fr. Jacob and his team coach Maria Perez-Eraci have raised over $560 so far.

The Choice Wine: 7 Steps to a Superabundant Marriage is a nine session, video-based formation program that teaches couples 7 practical steps to virtually divorce-proof their marriages. In putting these steps into practice, they can experience the superabundant love and mercy of God in their marriages and families and realize a foretaste of paradise here on earth. It will be available to churches everywhere this coming September, coinciding with the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia.

"It is exciting to see so many people taking advantage of this fun way to support this important program," said Brian Topping, Product Manager for The Choice Wine. "It is especially exciting to see Fr. Jacob and Preston participate. These individuals are already doing so much and will do so much through their priestly ministry to support marriage. It is great to see them embrace another unique opportunity through Put Up A Prayer."

Preston Quintela is a seminarian at St. Mary's Seminary in Houston. Originally from Fort Stockton, TX, he attended college at San Angelo State University, graduating in 2004. He has served as a teacher and a coach during his time in Houston and is ready to participate in Put Up A Prayer. Preston and team captain Brett Petillo have raised over $1,000 so far.

Registration remains open for Put Up A Prayer. All ages are encouraged to visit the website at www.putupaprayer.com to register and get in on the fun. Put Up A Prayer makes a great activity for parents and their children as well. Every donation of as little as $20 helps to offer The Choice Wine to one more couple free of charge. All priests and seminarians are welcome to participate as well. Fr. Jacob and Preston look forward to the competition.
