All Saints Catholic School Introduces Community Service Group

Dallas, TX (September 16, 2011) - All Saints Catholic School introduces the Community Service Group (CSG) inaugurated during this the 2011- 2012 school year. CSG provides opportunities for students and families to serve those less fortunate in the community and has a complete schedule of grade level service projects planned for the school year. The program is designed to allow participants to both share their blessings through donations and to give their time through service.

This fall, the 1st grade is collecting art supplies for patients at Children's Medical Center in September and will then work together to decorate bags and fill them with the supplies. The 3rd grade is hosting a coat drive in October. The students will advertise the project and work during carpool to collect gathering gently used coats for Our Lady of Perpetual Help in October. In November the 8th grade will collect food, diapers, wipes, and baby formula for Catholic Charities and then spend a day working at the World of Good Retail Store. The 4th grade will accept donations of fleece material and spend an afternoon making fleece blankets for Children's Medical Center.

During second semester, the Kindergarten will collect toys for the prize closet at Children's Medical Center and make cards for the patients in January. In February the 6th grade will visit Catholic Charities to learn more about the organization and while there, they will perform needed service work. The 5th grade will host a Lenten Food Drive in March and then stock and organize the food pantry at Catholic Charities. In April the 7th grade will accept donations of flowers and landscaping supplies and then spend a day preparing flowerbeds and installing plants at the Saner Child Development Center. The 2nd grade will round out the school year in May, with a drive to collect gently used gaming electronics, which they will bag and label and donate to Children's Medical Center.

In addition to these scheduled grade-level projects, CSG will mobilize around emergency relief efforts to help those suffering from natural disasters and provide information for volunteer opportunities to those who wish to participate in additional service work outside of school.

Working together, the students and families at All Saints Catholic School look forward to making a difference in the lives of those in need and welcome the new CSG to the ASCS community.
