The iPhone 5S will greet enthusiasts sometime in September, so the insiders say. Great speculation surrounds the new colors for the 5S and 5C models. The 5S is expected to arrive in the traditional black and white, plus a new, gold or champagne color. The 5C may come in a rainbow of colors according to leaks.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - What the new iPhone will look like remains to be seen, but new colors, a new design (iPhone 5C) and new securty features are expected.

The iPhone 5S is expected to ship with the sapphire security system, a system that requires the owner's thumb to unlock the phone. If true, it will add vast security to the phone, and rendering the need for a traditional pass-code redundant.

Currently, the iPhone comes in black and white colors.

These have been the standard colors since the release of the iPhone 4.

The new iPhones 5S is expected to look exactly like the iPhone 5, at least for the most part. The iPhone 5C however, which is made of plastic, is expected to have well-rounded edges and to be smoother than its metal counterpart.

Despite the plastic construction, the 5C version is expected to cost about $400 to $500 when it debuts.

The new introductory-level phone will be the 4S, and it should retail  round $300.

But what about color? Leaked photos suggest the 5C will come in a minor rainbow of colors.

For the current users of the iPhone 5, there are aftermarket modifications available to change the colors. It's expected these will also be available for the 5S, probably using the same parts. However there are two drawbacks to such modifications. Such modifications are usually expensive, and they can void your warranty.

It has been widely rumored however, that a gold or champagne color will be unleashed on the market. These gaudy phones may prove quite popular in markets like India and China where gold is a preferred color scheme. In the west, the color may also prove popular, especially amongst people who see the phone as a fashion accessory.

Despite the fact the iPhone 5S isn't even released, the true aficionados with access to Photoshop have already been hard at work.

Here is concept art for the iPhone 6 featuring a larger screen and solid colors.

The iPhone 6 will be released in 2014, so it is logical to assume that its design is largely settled upon.

A transparent iPhone has also been floated as a concept. It gets high marks for coolness, however a see-through phone might not be as fun to use in everyday life.

Whatever happens, the new iPhone is sure to excite fans and will be difficult and expensive to buy for awhile to come.
