The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Consumer Reports, listing the quality of hamburgers, from the smaller - to the most major fast food chains rated McDonald's as the absolute worst. Misery loves company, as major food retailers Burger King and Jack in the Box were also at the near bottom.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - McDonald's low burger quality isn't entirely lost on its regular customers. "I only eat the McNuggets," 55-year-old Bob Jones, a laborer from New Jersey said after a lunch at a Midtown McDonald's. "The burgers taste like rubber. I go to Burger King and Wendy's."

In addition, some critics say that the best part of the McDonald's hamburgers is the toppings.

This negative criticism flies in the face of record sales at McDonald's. Topping Consumer Reports' burger pile was the little-known Five Guys, followed by California favorite In-N-Out Burger.

The nationwide survey of 28,000 of the magazines online subscribers ranked McDonald's a lowly 18th out of 18.

The study asked people to rate the burgers they had eaten on their last visit to each restaurant on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best. McDonald's weighed in with a 5.6.

Also included in the survey were some regional, very little known fast food chains such as Back Yard Burgers, Checkers and Krystal.

Interested parties should be reminded that the hamburgers were based solely on taste, and food quality - and not nutritional value.
