Team Romney out-raises far more than Team Obama - again

Romney camp reports raising $101.3 million in July

The Romney campaign, the Republican National Committee, and the Romney victory fund have outraised far more money than their Obama-related counterparts. Team Romney has announced raking in $101.3 million last month, down slightly from the $106.1 million it raised in June.

The strong fund-raising by the Romney camp has renewed pressure on President Obama to bring in more cash and underscores the near-certainty that Mr. Romney will remain financially competitive.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The July total is more than the $75 million-plus the Obama entities, which includes the campaign, Democratic National Committee, and victory fund hauled for the month of July. Team Obama raised some $70 million through those efforts in June.

The president's campaign announced on Twitter on Monday morning that his July fund-raising topped out at about $75 million. "Every bit helps," the campaign tweeted, noting that 98 percent of the contributions were under $250.

Mr. Obama's advisers have all but conceded the money race to Mr. Romney. Fund-raising e-mails from the campaign have taken a more urgent tone over the summer, repeatedly warning supporters of the financial advantage that the Republicans will hold going into the final weeks of the presidential campaign.

The strong fund-raising by the Romney camp has renewed pressure on President Obama to bring in more cash and underscores the near-certainty that Mr. Romney will remain financially competitive with an incumbent whose fund-raising prowess has long been a hallmark.

The July fundraising numbers are due to the Federal Election Commission on August 20, when a final tally for both camps becomes accounted for.

While the Romney camp has outraised Team Obama in recent months, the actual Obama campaign has continued to outpace the Romney campaign, while the RNC has significantly outraised the DNC.

It must be noted that while the campaigns do control the party and victory fund money, there are limitations in how it can be used. For example, coordinated party expenditures are limited to $21.7 million in this presidential contest.

One thing I've noticed about Democrats when it comes to campaign money is that if Republicans take in more money than Democrats the Democrats accuse the Republicans of trying to buy the election and they whine and complain. Yet, when Democrats bring in more money they cheer and say there is nothing wrong it.
