Pro-Life, Pro-Family, Pro-Freedom Herman Cain Wins Florida Straw Poll
His victory is being billed as a surprise by many in the media
"The Founding Fathers got it right because of those fundamental principles: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They also got it in the right order. And you can pursue all the liberties that you want as long as you don't infringe upon the life of anybody else. And that starts with the life of the unborn" (Herman Cain)
Herman Cain, candidate for the Republican Presidential nomination
ORLANDO, FL. (Catholic Online) - "The Founding Fathers got it right. The Founding Fathers got it right because of those fundamental principles: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They also got it in the right order. That wasn't an accident.
"Their vision meant that you could pursue happiness in America as long as you don't infringe upon the liberties of somebody else. And you can pursue all the liberties that you want as long as you don't infringe upon the life of anybody else. And that starts with the life of the unborn."
"The courts have failed the American people. Congress needs to enact a constitutional amendment to protect the sacred institution of marriage. Liberal-minded judges have opened a floodgate of judicial tyranny that will chip away at the core values of this country until nothing sacred is left!"
"It started with not allowing prayer in schools, not being able to display the Ten Commandments, attempting to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance and now making same-sex marriages legal."
The man who, in the statements above- and on many, many other occasions - has defended the right to life, the primacy of true marriage between one man and one woman, and the core values which are the foundation of the American experiment, won the Florida straw poll on Saturday.
His victory is being billed as a surprise by many in the media and the Republican political establishment. It should not come as a surprise to those who have been watching this 2012 Republican Presidential primary race carefully. People want a pro-life, pro-marriage and pro-freedom candidate. They are not going to simply accept the handpicked Republican establishment candidate-not this time.
Herman Cain has been unafraid to speak of his convictions with clarity, charm and conviction. He done so on many issues. He has clearly identifiable positions on economic issues and he is developing clarity and consistency on matters of foreign policy.
Cain is a successful businessman and a non-politician with absolutely no political experience. This is increasingly appealing to many. His career of service, success in business and family life are exemplary. He has a down to earth speaking style and his speeches are regularly sprinkled with a kind of "everyman" humor which is refreshing; especially after so much scripting.
His most often cited executive position is as the former Godfather's Pizza Chief Executive. However, he has a proven record in the banking industry and in several other business endeavors. He has made payroll and managed budgets. He is a "self made man" with a love for America and a smile which makes the observer smile and captures his spirit.
Herman Cain won this Florida Straw Poll decisively. He garnered 37 percent of the vote. Rick Perry took 15 percent and Mitt Romney took 14 percent. Showing a growing strength in the wake of a strong performance at the Florida debate, Rick Santorum took a respectable 11 percent. Ron Paul took 10 percent, Newt Gingrich, 8.4 percent, John Huntsman, 2.3 percent and Michelle Bachmann finished last with only 1.5 percent.
He gave an official statement upon hearing the good news which included these words: "Thank you to the Republican voters for this incredible honor of being named the winner of the Presidency 5 straw poll in Florida today. This is a sign of our growing momentum and my candidacy that cannot be ignored. I will continue to share my message of 'common-sense solutions' across this country and look forward to spending more time in Florida, a critical state for both the nomination and the general election."
The efforts of the Republican political establishment to pick the 2012 nominee of the Republican Party are failing. Herman Cain's victory in the Florida straw poll is just the beginning of more surprises to come as the formerly "last tier" candidates begin to emerge as more capable of contending with the President in the 2012 campaign than the establishment candidates. Stay tuned, there are many surprises ahead.

I'm praying a novena that this guy gets into office . . . if we get saddled with another democrat or some push-over Republican, I'm going to go insane! America NEEDS a skilled business man, not a politician, to get us out of China, out of the broken stock market, and out of the cesspool of immorality that this country has fallen into.
I was certain that Cain had to be somewhere on the ticket as soon as I saw him earlier this year. Now I believe he deserves to be on top. I can't see that any one "owns" him. He is his own man. The establishment could blow it if they start whining about his political inexperience even though he is a giant compared to the senator from nowhere now setting in the White House (excuse me) flying around the country beating his chest and wasting our money.
Cain has to exhibit compassion for the Tea Party conservative values but avoid being labeled as the Tea Party Candidate. The black "establishment" has already designated the Tea Party as the "enemy" from the CBC to Hollywood to Al Charpton zombies to the union thugs with the full support of the administration.
Cain's message resonates with all true conservatives, small business people, those who realize the citizenry is over taxed and under appreciated and I believe that includes a lot of the black population. His real adversaries are elitist Republicans who as a rule can't get out of the box the opposition and the media has had them in for years i. e. their fear of losing the false pride they have as by-partisans willing to compromise (or capitulate if necessary) to get along with the good old boys of the Beltway and stay in joint power.
It's going to be a struggle but personally I would feel better about myself losing the battle along side of Herman Cain than simply going along with the traditional "best chance of defeating Obama" theory which as we know has failed in the past.
Just watch, the best estimate of Cain's strength will be to see how hard the predictable progressive press goes after him (now that he is at the top of the polls) as a nobody from nowhere with no international experience and who is considered to be an "Oreo" by black folks.
Well, Bob Keller, it only makes Cain more attractive. You make the mistake of accepting the assertion that Islam is a religion. It is a totalitarian ideology. Would you want a Communist or a Nazi in the White House? Mohammed had nothing in common with Jesus, but plenty in common with Stalin, Hitler, Castro, and even Charles Manson. Anyone who accepts the teachings of the murderer and slaver Mohammed cannot possibly support the constitution. Furthermore, Cain seems to be the only candidate who may be able to clearly identify the Islamic problem. Without such clarity, American foreign policy is doomed to failure. Just because the Japanese regarded Hirohito as devine, that did not make the war against Japan a war of religion!
It is time for all believers in sexual morality, the catholics, the christians and even Muslims join together and fight against the decay in the sexual morality in the western culture Or else the protagonists of pleasures and materialism will be seeking legalizing INCEST, Animal -human marriage, poligamy etc. Even the first lady of France once said she prefers a society of poligamy and poliandry.
I met him at the Fla. CPAC. As I left I had an Epiphany. NO to Romney. No to perry. Its Cain. He is NOT political. He is ABSOLUTELY capable of debating obama. He is a breath of fresh air, honest. If we can get him on the ticket. No more Romney's no more Perry's. Please start sending him $$. I don't have much but I plan on sending him what I can. He needs more airtime!!! The more I hear him the more I love him. There is an Old YouTube out there where he wins a debate with bill Clinton at a town hall meeting. He had Clinton all flustered when he rattled off all types statistics.
vance, if the GOP can't beat Obama with the shape the economy is in, they might as well pack it up and call it a day. I guess at the end of the day it's all going to come down to who can win over the independents/moderates. It will be curious to see who actually emerges as the GOP nominee. I don't think it will be anyone currently running.
VANCE: You are right. Those strategists are "Progressive" Republicans (RINO's) like McCain & Graham. So are Romney and Perry. ROB: Christie has been saying no to running for the presidency from the beginning. His answer the other night was not the first time he said he wouldn't run. It's just with the answer he gave this time, made me finally accept his reason for not running. God bless.
Rob, I don't doubt that you heard that from so-called GOP strategists. These are the Liberals I've been talking about. We Conservatives turn them off every time. Within the circle of Conservatives we are getting louder and telling ALL News agencies that their Beltway RINO's don't speak for us and don't tell us who is electable. Romney and Perry are their candidates. I have news for you. ANY of the GOP candidates will clean Obama's clock come 2012. You can take that to the bank.
Dear Friends: Don't know if you have heard or read any of this so let me report. Valerie Jarrett, Obama's senior advisor said: "The point of the government is to GIVE people a livlihood so they can provide for their families." Gov. Perdue of No. Carolina wants to suspend elections for the presidency for two years so that they can still work on the country's problems. Now do you think they will give up the presidency at that time or want another extension? Congressman Clyburn wants Obama to by-pass congress and by executive order, do anything he wants? How nice. A California teacher punishes students for saying "God Bless You." An Iraqi poet in St. Louis who wrote a poem in support of Israel was attacked at gunpoint and a Star of David was carved in his back. There was a Kalipha Conference in Illinois this month, where Islam leaders are calling for a revolution to take over America and the world. My friends, we are in deep trouble. We are looking past all this stuff and committing suicide. What is wrong with us?
ROB: I pray with every fiber in me that you are wrong but I'm afraid you may be right. Did you hear Christie's speech at the Reagan Library the other night? This man IS presidential material. If you heard his speech then you had to hear the woman that asked him to run. It brought me to tears. His answer to her was the only answer he has ever given that I will accept. He did sound very sincere and humbled, at least to me. Yesterday I sent him a letter. He probably won't even see it but it was something I felt I had to do. He said he doesn't have the call to be president. In short, I told him God was calling him through the people of America and to please reconsider. I checked billo'reilly@foxnews.com to catch up on the poll he is running on the GOP candidates late last night, Herman Cain was in the lead again with Paul right behind and then Romney. I haven't checked it this morning yet. I have just resigned myself to the fact that we must trust in God. He will deal with us in His own way as He always has. No matter what happens to this country, to us and the whole world for that matter, we must remember that good always wins in the end. It's just wondering how long that will take. God bless.
