Late on election night, the results of the Gay Marriage referendum in Maine has yet to be finalized as well.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Catholic Online) – With his Republican opponent out of the race, Democrat Bill Owns is maintaining a 49 to 46 percent lead over Doug Hoffman of the Conservative Party. Dierdre Scozzafava withdrew on Saturday, throwing her support behind the Democratic candidate. The election, already a matter of national interest, became headlines with the move by the moderate Republican. The move was understood by many as revealing some problems within the GOP in New York.
