Vermont Gov to Veto 'Same Sex Marriage' Bill
By Kathleen Gilbert
3/26/2009

Douglas had indicated that he thought the state's civil unions for same-sex couples were enough, and that he was against same-sex "marriage."

The state Senate Judiciary Committee voted unanimously to introduce the bill last Friday, after a week of emotional hearings that drew thousands of people to the Statehouse pleading for and against the legislation.

MONTPELIER, Vermont (LifeSiteNews.com) - Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas said today that he would veto a bill the Senate passed Monday that would open the legal definition of marriage to include same-sex couples, reports the Associated Press (AP).

Douglas had indicated earlier that he thought the state's civil unions for same-sex couples were enough, and that he was against same-sex "marriage."

The Democratic-dominated Vermont Senate voted 26-4 Monday in favor of the bill, S. 115, which would redefine marriage as "the legally recognized union of two people." The House is now considering similar legislation.

The AP reports Douglas also indicated today that the Senate should not have spent time on the bill, to the detriment of pressing economic problems.

Douglas' remarks echoed a complaint made by critics of the bill at the onset of the ratification process, decrying the bill as rushed by design.

Douglas' veto could be overridden by the state legislature if there is a two-thirds majority in favor of the bill in both the Senate and the House.

For everyone: Keep reading the Gospels they are brilliant. So is the Old Testamet in it proper context and biblical scholarship.
This is a request before you make up your mind of the hate and fear that we Christians have.
Also keep in mind Vince the Lord's Church is in the World not of the World.
Vince, next chance you get go to Courage Apostolate and look over the sight.
Also I recommend to you Father Harvey's book Homosexuality and the Catholic Church your going to be surprised. It was fantastic and I hope I learned something from the reading.
Also I might add Vince if a Christian has done their homework they know the difference between judgment and a rebuke.
A rebuke is to remind your brothers and sisters they are doing wrong against the Love of our Lord.
Yes, Vince someday our Lord will be back and He will Judge each and everyone of us according to our works and faith.
I also would like to let you know my brother-in-law had and may still have a transexual/transgender tendancy so I speak from love.
He is still married to my sister.
He almost took off a few years ago.
He came to my house with his daughter and she was balling her eyes out and I was upset but the Lord showed me how to pray and keep him here.
I pray for him and others all the rest of my days.
Keep in mind as well Vince that if you believe in "the original sin(s) of our first parents" from genesis it will make sense to you that we all have negative tendancies.
Tendancies our Lord is well aware of someday I hope step by step through His will we discover what these tendancies are and can do something with His grace.
Love in Christ

Emotion should not be involved in these decisions, but rather the knowledge of the impact these decisions will have on the society, and human history can teach us a lot. Remember there is nothing new under the sun.
Union - Procreation = Death.
In Magnetism, opposite poles attract, like poles repell.
So what is our guide as to whether a decision is right or wrong.
I place before you life and death, choose life.
God Bless.

Amen, Vince. But you have to remember God created Adam & Eve. He did not create Adam & Evan.

Don't misquote the Lord for your purpose. If you will quote His teaching, quote the whole line, not just the part that almost point to you.
I am a Christian, have a few acquaintances of your persuasion.

I don't hate them, but I don't condone their immoral action in front of me.

Respect goes both way.
God Bless!
