Catholics in Alliance Board Chair Was an Obama Fundraiser
As I have always said, it is perfectly OK to support one candidate over another in the world of Catholic politics --but just admit it.
Well, the Catholic Key Blog is reporting that Catholic in Alliance's Board Chair, Elizabeth Frawley Bagley, was a major fundraiser -- over $350,000! -- for Obama during the presidential election. Bagley was even a member of Obama's national finance committee.
The Catholic Key also reports that the day after the election, November 5, Bagley gave an interview on the Internet Paltalk news program where she was introduced by host Gary Baumgarten as "the person responsible for getting out the vote for Obama." Bagley neither denied the claim nor the statement made by Baumgarten that she was "an official of the Barack Obama campaign."
As I have always said, it is perfectly OK to support one candidate over another in the world of Catholic politics --but just admit it.
Perhaps the reason that Catholics in Alliance could not admit is that their voter guides were being using in parishes all over the United States.
If it had been known its board chair was raising big money for Obama, those voter guides might not have been so widely distributed. I say "might not" because it was crystal clear what both Catholics in Alliance and Catholics United were up to -- providing cover for pro-abortion candidates -- and only those in agreement, or the truly naive, would have used those voter guides.

Mike Sweeney, I AGREE with every word you wrote. You've articulated in the strongest sense. Thank you and GOD bless you.
This is just one more in a seemingly endless series of Catholic politians who support abortion. But it is the priests and bishops of the Church who enable these sorry souls, by their silence and therefore tacit approval. Both parties want it both ways. I think the Church hierarchy is the most guilty in the eyes of God, for they take from the collection plate but do not defend the unborn. This duplicity drives more Catholics away from the Church than any other matter. Their silence speaks volumns.
The Catholc Democrats I know become visibly upset and verbally abusive when it is suggested that the Democratic Party is anti-life or represents the Culture of Death the Pope has referred to. Some of our Bishops and priests, knowingly or not, seem to encourage the Democrats stance in other matters such as immigration or minimum wage matters, wich all sound reasonable but when examined are proven to be more harmful than helpful. There needs to be a clear voice on the national level or no voice at all. The Church can't have it both ways.
How can people seriously embrace things that are completely incompatible with the faith, and still say that they are Catholics in Good Standing with the church. Apparently, they don't know the church! FIRE HER!
GET RID OF HER!!!! How dare her be such a hypocrite!!! She should NOT serve on any Catholic Board. She is as bad as Pelosi. Both should NOT be allowed Holy Communion. I believe our Catholic clergy is very lax with the known politicians that are pro-choice and support abortion. Only a few have the courage to support our Catholic Church beliefs. They should all follow and support our Holy Pope Benedict XVI.
