Archbishop Chaput : Senator Obama Most Pro-Abortion Candidate Since Roe v Wade

Why would you let someone lead our country or represent your state if that person favors allowing people to kill their children?

In this explosive interview Archbishop Chaput said the U.S. Bishops have realized that 'a quieter approach to these things has not been effective ... we have to be clearer, more precise, stronger in what we say. We've just had it!'

In this explosive interview Archbishop Chaput said the U.S. Bishops have realized that 'a quieter approach to these things has not been effective ... we have to be clearer, more precise, stronger in what we say. We've just had it!'

DENVER (LifeSiteNews) - In an exclusive interview, Archbishop Chaput answered some of the most pressing questions in the presidential election season, focusing on the unapologetic Catholic directive to bring their pro-life values to the voting booth.

Thomas Peters of the popular American Papist blog sat down with the archbishop, who has made headlines as one of this year's most vocal defenders of human life among U.S. bishops.Peters asked Archbishop Chaput why the Church in the U.S. has been particularly outspoken on life issues in recent months.

"One reason is that Senator Obama is the most active pro-abortion politician to run for the Presidency since Roe v. Wade," said the archbishop. "He has committed himself to do things the Church would resist."

Regarding the defense of the Church's pro-life doctrine, Chaput said the U.S. bishops have realized that "a quieter approach to these things has not been effective ... we have to be clearer, more precise, stronger in what we say. We've just had it."

He also said that the U.S. bishops' "Fatihful Citizenship" document is "not very clear" and, because it is able to support widely conflicting interpretations, should be revised or rejected.

He discussed the view of some Catholics who support Obama as the "true pro-life" candidate, asserting that "It would be foolish to say that someone who endorses abortion as an option and runs on a party platform that has no regret at all about abortion ... to call that position pro-life is really strange."

Archbishop Chaput, who is the author of the bestselling book "Render Unto Caesar" on the integration of Catholic faith and political life, said that while he and the Church fully support separation of Church and state, "We don't believe in the separation of faith and politics.

"Politics is simply the business of arranging how we love our neighbor. So, to say we should separate what we believe from how we love our neighbor doesn't make any sense."

Chaput re-emphasized abortion as "The foundational issue in our culture.

"Cardinal George said our country's drenched in blood, and it is. Why would you let someone lead our country or represent your state if that person favors allowing people to kill their children? It doesn't make any sense."

I find it utterly amazing the number of Catholics who voted for Senator Obama. It's a blatant disregard for Church teachings. Plain and simple. Enough is enough, abortion is wrong, it's the taking of a life and he supports it. If the dignity and value of human life, especially regarding those who are defenseless isn't that paramount issues what is? If one believes this isn't the critical then they have disregarded their faith and interpreted the situation in which ever way they think best. Not the way it works. God doesn't care about your concern for the economy. We all need to understand that their are things bigger then our own selfish needs.

I am trying to look at the positives rather than on the negatives. Obama represents Dr. Luther Kings Dream of racial integration. Racism is such a huge problem, that change is needed not only on a national level but at a world level. I pray for a movement towards world peace. And that starts with our leaders. Abortion is a serious issue, but there is so much more. Although Pro life views are part of the Right wing liberal idealologies, there have been greater sins from previous US leaders which involved killing innocent women and children unarmed in an illegal war.

Everything happens for a reason for better or for worst. God has a plan, and I am aiming towards the light and not looking back at the darker moments of our past.

My 5 year old is asleep right now. How am I going to tell him that Obama won? He is so worried because he knows that "he allows babies to be killed." He has heard us speaking about this whole campaign. He was praying the whole time that McCain would win the election. I have a 16 year old crying in her pillow. The children know, they know what is to come more than these people who are cheering because a man who would support the killing of their children and who knows who else (elderly, disabled). God have mercy on us. The time to pray is now, continue with prayer, rosaries and pray that both Obama and Biden has a conversion or something.

Biden should be ashamed of himself by calling himself a Catholic and supporting abortion and gay marriage. He doesn't seem to know where his running mate stands on some issues, he's just glad to be in the mix.
Please pray for all of our children and for all unborn children who are now in even more danger.
    Peace

To date, the number of abortions is over 32.7 million, one can only imagine how much money planned parenthood pumped in with that.

Having more money will not solve the problem, this is about will power, sacrifice, and love.

I am against abortion, but find it sickening that the Catholic Church only sees this issue and does not see the huge errors of the Republican Party, which the Church obviously condones and values.
The Church needs to stay out of the State and start getting into the homes of its members.

One of the major problems with pro-abortionists is that they do not believe that the killing of babies in the womb is actually the taking of a life, no matter at what stage. Yet, if you say to these same people that their mother should have had an abortion, they are likely to accuse to of threatening their lives. Abortion isn't killing, to them, unless you suggest to them that their mothers should have aborted them.

Isn't it funny that some people are saying to vote for McCain, but he is a Republican. When they do not have the social programs, then maybe its time for another Party to deal with the issues.

Don't think Obama is the most pro-abortion candidate since Roe v Wade, and believe you can be pro-life and vote for Obama. The quickest was to reduce abortion is provide single mothers and their families with good healthcare, good educational opportunities, and good job opportunities.

I voted Pro-Life this morning. There are people who would call us one-issue voters. I say Life is not about just one issue. Without the right to life there are no other rights. I fasted from noon Sunday to 7:30 pm Monday night in support of life (only drinking coffee and water). From 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday evening we had a Holy Hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament at my parish. I was impressed with the number of faithful that showed up. We must get the pendulum swinging back in favor of life.

I recently saw the aftermath of abortion online at www.durarealidad.com. Caution: it is graphic and disturbing. Children should not see this horror.

I know our Jewish friends get upset when we compare abortion to the Holocaust, but there is no other fitting word to call it. The current abortion practices in this country are just as bad (if not worse) than Nazi Germany. It truly is horrific.
