Maverick McCain Picks Gov. Sarah Palin as his Running Mate
The Maverick has indeed gone bold.He has just infused this 2008 presidentail campaign with a jolt of raw energy.Sarah Palin is the Vice Presidential nominee of the Republican Party.
In this Dec. 4, 2006 file photo, Todd Palin, right, holds the Bible for his wife, Sarah Palin, as she is sworn in as Alaska's governor during an inauguration ceremony in Fairbanks, Alaska. As the political community turned desperate for any clues about the potential running mate of Republican Presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., speculation moved toward several dark horse candidates including Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the so-called 'hockey mom' credited with reforms of her tiny, out-of-the-way state.
There was a flurry of reports from the pundit class in the wee hours of the morning indicating that Senator John McCain was going to choose Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, the first female Governor of that State, and a rising star in the new face of the Republican Party, as his Vice presidential running mate.
She rose to prominence through her courageous willingness to expose ethics violations within her own State Party. She is pro-life, pro-marriage and family, and pro-freedom. She is a happily married wife and mother of five children. She is beautiful, well liked in her home State (80% approval rating), articulate and from all that I have heard, a genuinely warm, kind and good person.
The suspense over the pending announcement was unlike anything I have experienced in all my years of political participation and activism.
Now, it has been confirmed. The McCain/Palin ticket will soon take the stage. The Maverick has indeed gone bold.He has just infused this 2008 presidentail campaign with a jolt of raw energy. The entire Press corps is fixated on the Republicans this morning, even though Senator Barack Obama gave his much anticipated acceptance speech last night.Senator John McCain turned 72 years old today. With this historic decision he has proven that he still has a lot of life and courage. More, after the historic introduction.

One cannot be pro-life if they are anti-abortion for the death penalty and war... OR pro-abortion and against the death penalty or war. I am pro-life from conception to natural death. Another human shall not take another human's life at all!
I am a Canadian woman, caregiver to my 57 yr younger sister with Down's. She is also perfect and pure. I wish I was allowed a vote in the U.S. election. The ticket would certainly be the McCain/Palin one. Bravo to both of you. Lookin forward to your inaugurals. God bless
Nothing about the fact she abandoned the Church?
This is far from a "maverick" pick. It's the same old, same old from the Repubs. Pick someone to rally the hateful evangelicals and the pro-murder, but anti-abortion right wingers who voted for Bush. Just shows McCain is as cowardly and cynical as Bush and co.
As an adoptive parent-I say thank God for Sarah!! My children's birth moms didn't abort-as a result-I am a parent!!!! You can't know what that means!
I am a cradle Catholic. I have been a democrat all my life because I always thought the republican party is the party of the rich and well connected. In Matthew 25 scriputre tells us "I was hungry and you gave me to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me to drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me. There is more than one issue in this election, health care, education, the environment, capital punishment, the war in Iraq where thousands of innocent civilians were killed but I guess that is all right because they were not babies. How can you reconcile the Republican agenda to scripture. As proven by the last 8 years, the Republicans are for big business, big oil, drug companies, big tax breaks for corporations and rich people. Isn't it time to do something for the middle class?
Sarah Palin is qualified to be Vice-President. Her skills and qualifications far outstrip the Democrat Candidate Barack Hussein Obama. She is Pro-Life, for Small Government, Tax Cuts, and has helped reformed her state from the corruption of her own party (she bears some similarities to the great Cardinal Cisneros of Spain). Thank you Lord.
Sarah Palin is wholly unqualified to be President, and makes Barack Obama by comparison, look like an experienced statesman. But Governor Palin will help overturn Roe V. Wade and insure that wealthy women will once again have to board a jet plane to have their abortions, while we Catholics can revel in the arrest and jailing of those poor women fortunate enough to survive what will be the return to the 'back alley' abortions of yesteryear. Truly a great moment for followers of Christ, and Proponents of Rich women. . . . Poor women ? ? ? not so much.
Hooray, for Sarah Palin!! It is about time, of which we have a voice, against abortion. I will vote for McCain, and
Palin. I am proud to be a Catholic.

Sarah is also pro death penalty and pro creationist-teaching.
So if she were Catholic, guess she'd be heading to the cafeteria for lunch, huh?
