TOMBSTONE IN NECROPOLIS BENEATH VATICAN CITY – The tombstone of a child is seen in a necropolis discovered beneath Vatican City. The necropolis was discovered in 2003 when the Vatican began digging foundations for a parking garage. The tombs date from the time of Augustus in the early first century to the time of Constantine in the early fourth century. (CNS/courtesy of Vatican Museums)
