The drone can hold up to 20 pounds and features air conditioning in the cabin.

The EHang 184 was unveiled at this year's Consumer Electronic Show and is the world's first self-driving electrical aerial vehicle. It is designed to fly individuals short distances at low altitudes without the necessity for its passenger to control it.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The drone is similar in appearance to its smaller counterparts and uses eight propellers mounted to four arms. Though it is able to hover, an EHang spokesperson said it can land using a single propeller arm if necessary.

A tablet in the cockpit allows the passenger to choose their destination then relax in the cockpit that includes what appears to be sufficient leg room and a comfortable seat for a smooth ride.

Currently there is a small trunk for a travel bag and air conditioning in the cabin, but the weight limit is 220 pounds.

EHang 184 is five-feet-tall and weighs 440 pounds. Its battery lasts 23 minutes when riding at a speed of just over 62 miles per hour. The 184 is able to ascend and descend vertically and is recharged in only two hours for a "fast charge" and four hours for a "trickle charge."

EHang reports 100 manned test flights with its prototype and believes the current design is more of a finalized production model than a concept.

For easy storage, the four propeller arms can be folded upward and the drone takes up approximately the space of the average parking spot.

In the event of mid-flight emergencies, EHang spokespeople report multiple fail-safes to take over. There is also a flight-control center monitoring each vehicle in the sky that can intervene if necessary.

If, for example, a bird is noticed mid-flight, passengers can tap the tablet to enter into a stationary hover mode, which doubles as a means of sightseeing.

As Business Insider writer Steven Tweedie wrote, there are no physical controls at all. Passengers are required to use the tablet or rely on the flight control center, but what would result if connectivity was lost?

EHang remained unperturbed and stated the 24/7 flight-control center was more than capable of taking care of any emergency.

If you are interested in the price of an EHang 184, representatives announced it would cost between $200,000 and 300,000.
